November Favorites

Does anyone else feel that blogs these days are nothing but lists of things people like? As much as I want to hate that, I don't. I like stuff and I love reviews and I love sharing things that make me happy and seeing what makes others happy too.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleanser // Emma insisted that I try this facial cleanser a couple months ago and I had emptied another bottle of Body Shop's foaming wash, so I gave it a shot and ordered this giant bottle from Nordstrom. It's just heavenly. It's smooth, suds up well, and most importantly, makes your face feel baby soft. I've been using it twice a day since September and I've only made a dent in the bottle, so while it may seem pricey upfront, I'm pretty sure this will last at least 6 months. Also, this means nothing, but the bottle looks nice in my shower.

Nyx Cosmetics Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Sunbeam // Another product that was recommended by a friend. This time from the hilarious Christina. This illuminator is fun. That's the best word to describe it. It instantly brightens and illuminates your cheekbones, which is where I use it. Word of warning, a TINY bit goes a really long way. I very gently squeeze a tiny drop out of the tube, swipe a dab on the back of my hand, and then apply to my face with my fingers. If you go overboard, like I did the first time I used it, you'll look like Edward Cullen on a sunny day at the beach. Did I just reference Twilight? Well, that's embarrassing

TOMS Desert Wedges in Taupe // I will be the first to admit that I rolled my eyes when booties became trendy. They just looked so...elf-like. But, as I do with most trends, I come around (though usually when the trend is long gone - hah!). I tried on a lot of booties last fall and this fall and kept coming back to these wedges as my favorites. I can always use some height, but I also run around like a banshee all day long at work, so I needed something comfy. These fit the bill perfectly. They are comfortable from the get-go, the color works with all pants, and they are TOMS, a cause I can get behind.

Hunter Big Kids Original Rain Boots in Navy // I know that we are in a severe drought right now (and have been saying that for a few years, but it's still true), but apparently El Nino is coming for us and so far, we've had a few good rainy days. So I bought wellies and I haven't regretted it. Since I'm 4'11.5" (the .5 counts!), I cannot wear the original women's boots. They are too tall, hit my knee in an awkward place and generally do not work for me. The kids boots fit perfectly at 12.5" shaft and about 14" circumference. Now, my calves are little thicker than your average big kid (13-13.5"), so I can only wear these with skinny jeans or leggings, but I don't find it to be a huge problem. I normally wear 5.5 - 6 shoe in women's, and ordered a kids size 5, which is perfect. For more info on sizing and comparisons of boots, check out Extra Petite and Dress Corilynn. Also, these are half the price of the women's Hunters AND they come in glossy plum, which, of course, I now want.

Street Level Reversible Faux Leather Tote and Wristlet in Black/Cognac // I actually got this bag last fall, but I have still used it religiously since then and it has held up so well. What I love: it's reversible, it holds a ton of stuff, so it's great for traveling, it's inexpensive and comfy on the shoulder. When I bought it last year, they only had this color, but now they offer an array of colors. I think the navy/taupe one is lovely and the pink/taupe would be perfect for Spring. You cannot go wrong with this bag!

Ebags Packing Cubes // These cubes are the best thing that has happened to my packing. I simply do not know how I packed an organized bag before them. When we had to pack for 8 days in Europe with a single carry-on, I used these to help make it easier and you wouldn't believe the number of shirts and pants I was able to bring on that trip. These cubes keep everything together and you can really stuff them full and they will still zipper shut. In Iceland, they got kind of gross/smelly, so I popped them in the washing machine when we got back and they are good as new.
