Five Things Thursday

{ Have you checked out my first giveaway? It's a beautiful necklace by Morgan Prather Jewelry and
umm so far, your chances of winning are like 1 in 5. }

Five Thoughts

1. I've been Facebook-free for 20 days now. A personal record. I feel less annoyed. I feel that my computer time is more productive. I feel like a better friend when I call them instead of writing on their wall.

2. I cannot stop reading Ann Goering books. I actually emailed her to tell her how much I enjoyed them and she wrote me a really long personal email back! I kind of pretend we are BFFs now.

3. I am excited about a new volunteer opportunity I have with My New Red Shoes. I love what the organization does; giving new shoes and new clothing for low income students on their first day back to school. Do you remember your first day of school? So scary...which is why this is such a beautiful idea.

4. Can we talk about the Walking Dead mid-season finalé for a second? If Darryl dies, I'm quitting the show. Also, if the governor does not die, I'm quitting the show.

5. I took the What's Your Bedroom Design Personality and the result is...

Design Personality

Nailed it, Nate Berkus.

Five New Blogs in my Reader

1. Rising Shining - a lifestyle blogger who keeps it real with awesome budgeting tips. She's pregnant, too and I kind of love reading about pregnancy, for no particular reason.

2. Laura Likes Design - if I had graphic design skills, I'd have my work look exactly like Laura's. If I ever have any extra cash, I'd love for Laura to design a blog header for me. Oh and her blog is super cute, right now it's full of gift giving ideas.

3. 7th House on the Left - out of all the home design blogs I follow, these guys are 100% my style. Their kitchen, their outdoor Christmas display, their guest room. I die. I want to be their friends. I want them to decorate my house. I want their talent.

4. The Lettered Cottage - These guys have wonderful design skills and have some beautiful rooms, but it's their passion for giving that is so remarkable. They sponsor a child in Peru and are in the process of adopting their own child. Who knew a design blog could be so inspiring?

5. Chic Coastal Living - I read this blog for the photos, I'll admit. If I want 7th House on the Left to design my own house, then I want this lady to design my beach house. I dream big.

Five Quotes/Verses I'm Living By

1. Let your faith be bigger than your fear.

2. When you are going through something hard and wonder where God is, remember that the teacher is always quiet during the test.

3. You get in life what you have the courage to ask for.  - Oprah Winfrey

4. Stop the glorification of busy.

And finally,

What does this author write? Once an author saw a blog post I'd written where I said how much I enjoyed her book and she wrote me and e-mail. That was awesome. Not Jamie Oliver tweet or Tyler Florence meet awesome...but still cool.

LOVE that teacher quote. Never thought about it that way. And I'm kind of happy to be going through a similar life stage as you, because it helps to have someone who can empathize. [Although, I wish I had a Brandon to lean on, too. ;)]

  3. Ann writes Christian fiction, but the stories just suck you in and suddenly, you find yourself on the stationary bike at the gym crying and not caring about who sees you. You also start referring to the characters as your friends and get sad when you remember that they aren't real people.

I'm glad as well! It makes me feel like I'm not totally crazy and the validation doesn't hurt either ;)

  4. Oh my gosh, going facebook free is so amazing! It's liberating!! :P I loved doing it for two months after summer! But then i started "forgetting" birthdays (i wouldn't have completely forgotten but regardless I am still so, so very sorry!) and missing out on other useful things... :/ it seems i do need facebook... So now i have selected only a handful of people to show up on my newsfeed, which is the nedt best thing! All the good, (almost) none of the bad... :D que the first world problems meme ;)
And oh yes I agree with your comment on WD! :P I love Darryl :( and that governor sucks! :P whatever happens though, exciting! :P
